Monuments - as well as people - are often treated badly. They occur in places where they should not be. Or they may be there in the wrong moment. Monuments - as well as people - have often supported an endless series of wanderings before we meet them where they are now...

As most of the museums are full of monuments that should be somewhere else, we would like to limit us to those cases we meet in public streets and places.

Everyone can complete this list and our knowledge about the history of the various monuments. If you have any useful information, please send it to us. Thank you very much in advance!

We have already found the following examples:

Misplaced Monuments

The Egyptian obelisk in Munich

The Austrian emperor’s sculpture in Italy

The Rhine river meets the Isar in Munich

Fallen soldiers in exile in Erlangen

The lion’s loneliness in Erlangen

We will present the related details as soon as possible.
